[News] Single-use Plastics Law Amended by Kyrgyzstan

Release time:

Sep 08,2025

Single-use Plastics Law concerns from businesses about trade and manufacturing disruptions under the original rules.

Kyrgyzstan has amended its single-use plastics law, initially passed in June 2025 and set for full effect in 2027, to align with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) regulations. Key products like PET bottles and disposable plastic food packaging have been removed from the ban. The restriction on plastic tableware now applies only to non-recyclable items.

The adjustments address concerns from businesses about trade and manufacturing disruptions under the original rules. Despite these national changes, local bans continue, such as in the Issyk-Kul region, to protect fragile ecosystems from plastic pollution.
