There is a long way for Pulp Molding Industry to go.
China's pulp molding industry began in the 1990s. After 2000, the technology was rapidly upgraded. The "plastic ban" in 2020 promoted the accelerated development of the industry.
The market size reached 20.989 billion yuan in 2023 (+9.7%), and the output increased from 522,000 tons in 2016 to 1.359 million tons in 2023 (CAGR 14.6%).
China accounts for 40.5% of the global production capacity (1.79 million tons in 2022), leading the disposable molded fiber tableware (68%) and pulp molding industrial protective packaging (75%).
Exports continue to grow, 142,800 tons in 2023 (+18%), among which the United States market accounts for 43.9%.
There are around 4,000 enterprises in the industry, mainly in Guangdong (1,200) and Shandong (500+), and 66% are small and micro enterprises.
Catering and fineart packaging are with high concentration, with CR5 (Concentration Rate 5) reaching 50% and 75% respectively.
Raw material advantages are now driving companies to expand into production areas such as Guangxi (advantages over bagasse pulp) and Sichuan (over bamboo pulp).
