According to China News Service, Beijing, October 14，the China State Post Bureau's regular press conference in the fourth quarter of 2022 released that China's express packaging green governance has achieved initial results, and the next steps include ensuring that by the end of 2025, postal express outlets nationwide will ban the use of non-degradable plastic packaging bags, plastic tapes, and disposable plastic woven bags.
In 2022, the State Post Bureau will vigorously implement the "9917" project, making it clear that by the end of this year, the proportion of purchasing and using packaging materials that meet the standards will reach 90%, the proportion of standardized packaging operations will reach 90%, and the number of recyclable express boxes will reach 10 million. 700 million corrugated boxes were recycled and reused.
Guan Aiguang, deputy director of the Market Supervision Department of the State Post Bureau, said that through the joint efforts of the whole system and the entire industry, the awareness of green development in the industry has gradually increased, and the green governance of express packaging has achieved initial results, and the level of reduction, standardization and recycling of express packaging has been steady. The "9917" project is progressing successfully.
As of the end of September, the proportion of the whole industry in purchasing and using packaging materials that meet the standards and standard packaging operations both reached 90%, a total of 9.78 million recyclable express boxes have been put in, and 122,000 recycling devices have been set up at postal express delivery outlets. 640 million corrugated boxes were recycled and reused, and preliminary results were achieved in the green management of express packaging.
In the next step, the State Post Bureau will also steadily promote the large-scale application of recyclable express packaging to promote packaging recycling and reuse, and encourage delivery companies to increase the recycling and reuse rate of express packaging by setting up functional modules in their APPs and introducing incentive measures, strengthen supervision and management and administrative law enforcement, etc.
