classified into 11 types--according to process

Within the pulp molding industry, the molded pulp products can be classified into 11 types, singly with different feature.

Here is one of the 11 types as below. According to the process, it is divided into thermoforming, dry press and semi-dry (wet) press.

Thermoforming:
Wet product, after being formed, is directly transferred to the mold (in-mold drying), and quickly extruded and dried.

Advantages:
      with high production efficiency, and able to be transferred immediately after molding;
      with smooth, delicate and nice surface;
      with thinner walls but higher density, volume-saving.

Disadvantages:
      with small inclination which make it not easy to stretch or demould;
      with smaller draft angles or slopes, leading to higher net crushing rate.
      with high consumption in thermal energy.

Application:
      Finart industrial packages (such as Dell computer boxes, mobile phone sleeve boxes, razor boxes), various tableware, masks, decorative wall panels, etc., mostly used in fields with high added value.

Dry press
Wet product shall be dried with air, hanging basket, natural drying, or special drying equipment such as sun room, wind, vacuum, etc., and then shaped.
Advantages:
      Low cost, high efficiency, good buffering performance.
Disadvantages:
      The surface sensory quality is relatively rough, and the post-processing such as printing adaptability is poor.
Application:
      Industrial cushion packagings, egg trays, egg cartons, seeding trays, fruit trays and so on.

Semi-dry (wet) press
Wet product, after being dried by special equipment till being with a moisture content of 25% to 45%, shall be heat shaped
Advantages:
      The quality of the finished product is between dry and wet pressing, but the efficiency is greatly improved.
Disadvantages:
      The surface quality is average, not very suitable for post-printing treatment.
Application:
      The outer packaging of gifts and daily necessities with low requirements is relatively high in the inner cushion packaging.
