In the Bamboo Industrial Park of Xingwen Economic Development Zone, Sichuan, the Molded Fiber Food Packaging Project Phase One of industry-leading enterprise called Kingsun was put into operation in only 5 months, and the Phase Two will be completed with an annual output of 40,000 tons of molded bamboo food packagings, achieving an annual output value of more than 560 million RMB.
Sichuan has a production capacity of 1.9 million tons (accounting for 70% of the country) for bamboo pulp, and it owns a total of 59 "BASP (the Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic)" enterprises, with finished products covering food containers, pulp, industrial packages etc.
Although the area of bamboo forests in Sichuan ranks the second in China (18.41 million mu, that is, 12273 square kilometers), one third of the bamboo chips stay idle, and about 2 million mu (which 1333 square kilometers) are inefficient forests.
To this end, Sichuan plans to build and renovate 3,000 kilometers of roads in the bamboo area from 2023 to 2025, increase the mechanization rate by 15%, and promote the resource utilization.
